World 3: Fork Tower

Fork Tower

This strange dungeon is split into two spyres. The left is the Magic Tower (physical attacks are worthless here) and the right is the Power Tower (magic doesn’t work). At the entrance to the tower you’ll be forced to split your party up and decide who goes to which side. It’s fairly obvious then that your mages should go left and your more physical fighters to the right. After everyone has been assigned, you begin in the Magic Tower.

Magic Tower

Walk up through each of the rooms. There’s nothing noteworthy until the fourth floor. Walk outside. Admire the view. And then run up to claim your disappointing treasure, an Ether. Actually, by the end of the tower that may come in handy, but it’s kind of like getting a toothbrush for Christmas. Practical gifts suck.

Keep trudging up the stairs. Nothing else interesting arises until the seventh floor, where you find a chest containing a decent treasure. Open the chest to claim the Wonder Wand. The only wondrous thing about it is its -3 atk, but it’s loot.

At the eighth floor, the zenith of the tower, the scene shifts back to your other party members.

Power Tower

You should be able to do this blind folded. Walk up through the same rooms you were in with your magic party. Stop on the fourth floor to be disappointed by a Hi-Potion. Then stop again at the seventh floor and claim a Defender knightsword as your very own.

MinotaurosRemember Sekhmet from the Pyramid? Well, this is the brother he was referring to. Minotaur isn’t too horribly challenging. Just don’t attack him with your Excalibur, or Holy Lance, or anything else that may be imbued with Holy. He absorbs it. The last thing you want to do is heal him. He only attacks using Fight or Critical (until the end) and he inflicts 500-600 points of damage. Unfortunately you can’t use magic at all in this battle, so you’re reduced to Hi-Potions and Elixirs to stay alive. I relied on a berserker dual wielding a Rune Axe with Hermes Sandals and a knight wielding the Brave Blade. I never did have to resort to healing. Of course he’s the easier of the two bosses. You didn’t think your mages were going to get off easy did you?

hp: 16,999boss battle: Omniscient

OmniscientHis bark is worse than his bite. He has a huge range of attacks. He uses black, white, and time magic spells. Don’t worry about being physically attacked. It won’t happen. Essentially you just cast your strongest spells on Omniscient and wait until he dies, just like every other fight. Summoning spells don’t inflict much damage, but summon magic is still a welcome skillset. Carbuncle deflects most of Omniscient’s attacks directing them back at him. You need a skilled white mage for this battle to Dispel Omni every once in a while. He does like to buff himself with Regen and Haste. Time mages are less helpful here. Gravity doesn’t seem to hit and Comet doesn’t do all that much damage. You can get Regen from Protect Rings, so leave your time mage at home. Instead bring along someone with blue magic. Omniscient is weak to wind magic, and Aeroga inflicts over 4,000 points of damage, which significantly reduces the length of the battle. If you don’t have any high level wind spells, just use the Level 5 black magic spells. They still hit for about 2,700 points of damage.

Unlike his physical counterpart Minotaur, Omniscient will get to cast his final attack Flare, so you’d best prepare for it. Shell your party members, and if you can cast Carbuncle as well.

After both battles, the tower somehow disappears. It reveals a familiar hatch into the sea. Time to go rescue Cid.

funny, i tried using the dancing knife on him but everytime i did hit him he used return. other than that i used one time mage with white command and a black wizard with time. first thing was haste, then i berserked him, he was only attacking but each time he made 2500+ damage. so i protected, shelled and ran to the back row. after that it was easy...

Thanks a million Omega, you was right. Spellblade Mute = "No effect" whenever Omniscient casts a spell! Easy!

Omniscient: simply put Wall/Reflect rings on both part members, cast haste on the boss and grab some popcorn. the pretty much works for this whole tower too. Minotauros: set both your party members to knights and pick COUNTER as your ability for both of them. just keep using your PROTECT/GUARD ability quickly as possible each turn. In the end you'll block all damage and counter attack him to death - cake.

Wind magic inflicts the most damage to Omniscient. Even with the magus rod, firaga/blizzaga/thundaga does less damage. So, use Aeroga and Syldra equipped with the magus rod or air knife.

The physical tower: This is a great place to use the Berserker job. Also, equip a Knight with the Blood Sword and use the X-Fight! ability and it's a Win-win! For the magic tower: X-Magic! and Quick magics do the job. There are some important steals in these towers, though.

You'd best prepare your magic party before you climb that last set of stairs. There is an actual timer counting down between the first boss and the second boss, so if you take too long, the towers really do explode and you go back to the game's title screen (like what happens in Castle Karnak if the timer runs out).

Defeating Exdeath is a peice of cake. All I do is !Gil toss untill it won't damage him. Then I summon Carbuncle and he use Flare3 or blizzgra and done. I defeated him.

in order to avoid the Chrono Controllers and other powerful spell-yielding monsters, you must send three memebers of the party (Krile,Bartz and Lenna) into the left side tower. Faris would be the only one going for the other tower 'cause monsters here are all about physical strength and will get hit easily if you just throw a few shurikens (but you must save more for the boss monster Minotaur). On the other side of the tower, make sure you equip a white mage in one of your three party members. in order to avoid the Return spell cast by Omniscient, you must skip any physical type warriors first until your white mage's turn. cast the Dispel magic to Omniscient and once you attack him with swords, bows etc. his time magic spell wouldn't work. Just always summon Bahamut every now and then or cast a black magic spell (Firaga is the most powerful but Osmose may come in handy too).

go in with two black mages with the ability zeninage.just keep blasting omniscient with blazzaga for like 16 times then hit him with Zeninage and hes done.

I beat Omniscient the first time with this accidental strategy: I had a knight and a character with Blue magic. I figured out physical attacks would do nothing, so I that made my knight with two-hand irrelevant. After saving my own ass with Return a couple of times, I just started casting Brain-suck on him until he died. Since he's paralyzed, he actually can't use return when you attack him with a sword. Simple stuff.

Berserking Omniscient as suggested by Mindi does indeed work, but his physical attacks *hurt*. You should have at least one Summoner to cast Golem repeatedly if you do this. Protera or Mighty Guard also comes in handy if you mis-time a Golem casting. Also, be sure to steal his rare Kornago Gourd (it's only one of two in the game). You may have to reset the battle a couple of times to do this.

After 2 or 3 battle a realized the power of the ninja. I put Bartz, Lenna and Farris in the left tower ans I put Krile alone in the right tower. I used !Smoke to get to the top of the tower and when I had to fight the boss I switch !Smoke for the !Image skill. My Krila had Hermes Sandal and the !Image skill so all the attacks of the boss was on my images so I manage to beat the boss without a scratch ! The the other boss I realize that he counter with return everytime he is hit with a physical attack. So I summon Carbunkle few times to cast firaga on my party to (I cast spell on my entire reflecting party) deal a good amount of damage on him. I used my samurai to use potion and items !

Try putting Omniscient in berserk with your white mage and see what happens, yeah, i didnt think it would work either...but really all he does is attack after that.

I found that a samurie with an archer against Minotauros works extreamly well, and a blue mage casting areo 3 while a summoner casting Slydra or carblunkle kills Omniscient almost equally as fast. Just be very repeditive with gil toss and Slydra, the battles will be over in no time flat.
