World 1: Pirate Cove
It seems your chocobo thinks you’re a cad. After all, you leave defenseless women and amnesiac old men to fend for themselves in goblin infested territory. Better go find the pair before they get themselves killed…
After abandoning your lone traveler façade, you decide to accompany Lenna and Galuf to the Wind Shrine. The only problem is that the earthquakes caused by the meteor crash have blocked the way to Tule Village (the closest village to the Shrine). Up ahead a new cave has formed because of the earthquake. Looks like that’s your way to go.
Just inside the cave you will find a recovery spring that will completely heal your party when you touch it. Use it often. If you have the patience, wander around attacking the few enemies in the cave so you can save up a bit of spending money for the next village.
In the second room of the cave you will find a treasure chest containing a Leather Cap. Meager treasure, but at this stage of the game someone will be happy not to have a bare head. At the end of this room take note of the pirate (like you have a choice). You will need to follow his actions (pressing the switch on the wall) to continue through the cave.
Entering the next cavern you are drawn to the cave exit to watch a passing ship. How strange that it can sail without the aid of the wind. There isn’t much to do outside though unless you’d like to save your game or use a Tent. Continue heading northwest through the cave.
The next cave looks suspiciously like a pirate base. (It could be the skull and crossbone banners on the walls.) They sailed that ship you saw to this, their super secret hideout. If you could steal their ship you could get to the Wind Shrine, find Lenna’s father and find out what happened to the Wind Crystal. Sneak onto the ship and head for the steering wheel where you'll meet the ship’s androgynous captain: Faris.
The switch to the southwest of the base opens a door you cannot reach just yet because of all of those snoozing pirates. Remember it for later.
Your next destination is the Wind Shrine. A pirate will ask if that’s where you would like to be taken. You can answer either yes or no. Either way you aren’t committed to going directly to the Wind Shrine. If you answer yes he’ll sail you there, but you can still sail back to Tule. If you say no you can sail wherever you want. It’s a good idea to set sail for Tule Village to the west and outfit your party before you go to the Wind Shrine.

You can acquire the blue magic spell "vampire" from a steel bat. It is very similar to the drain spell from the other final fantasies, but this one seems to work better.
